This skirt is made from Butterick pattern B4722, view C. The fabric is Farmer’s Market. I used the pink medallion print. The ruffler made it a million times easier but this skirt still took a few hours from start to finish. My dd loves it and I think it looks darling on her. =)
I just noticed the first picture I posted is blurry. Here is a closeup of the skirt.
Months ago I ordered a ruffler for my sewing machine. I tried it out a couple of weeks ago and it just did not work. Boy was I disappointed. Especially because I was trying to make a skirt for my dd and the thought of ruffling that much fabric made my head hurt. lol
I decided to not give up though and discovered that I might need a low shank ruffler. It arrived today! Sure enough, it works. Like a charm. Check out this cool ruffle!
If you are interested in one. I got mine here. Stay tuned for my dd’s new skirt. Hopefully I will get it finished during this nice long holiday weekend, made extra long by taking tomorrow off! =)
This pincushion was much more difficult. I couldn’t get it to go together smoothly. It’s totally wonky. Ugh! If you want the pattern, you can find it here.
I got a $25 parking ticket today in front of my own house. Why? Because I didn’t have my front license plate on my vehicle. I have had my vehicle for 5 years. I have lived in my house for 10 years. I’ve parked my 5 year old car in the same spot for 5 years. And today the gig was up. GRRR! I promptly pissed and moaned to my dh who put the plate on before I could really have a meltdown. And then he put his on his car… Which he should have done when we got the cars. I have no clue why he didn’t. I really don’t.
In other news, I haven’t written since the end of So You Think You Can Dance. I’m happy with the outcome of Joshua winning. I do wish in the end, it had been Twitch, but I am not bummed that Joshua won. He is a great dancer and has a wonderful personality. And who could feel sad at watching his family dance in the aisles as he stood on stage crowned “America’s Favorite Dancer”. =) My mom, SIL, daughter and I will be seeing the tour in September. I cannot wait. I missed the tour last November (with last season’s cast) because I was in the hospital. My daughter went with my cousin’s adult daughter and friend. Not the way I had planned it. I will be at this show for sure! =)
This is a quilt I finished in July for my best friend’s birthday. Pardon all the wrinkles!!! She lives in Texas, so I had to ship it to her rather than getting to see her reaction in person. She called me in tears. She was so thrilled with it. =) My favorite part of the quilt is the half circle border. It was a huge pain, but totally worth it. I think it makes the quilt!
In my desperation to find something to do while laying in bed I found this new website. Twist Collective. What a fun, new knitting site. Yay! I love how it is put together and how you can scroll through the patterns. Awesome.
I woke up this morning not feeling great. Dragged myself to work for a few hours and then gave up and went home. I feel like I’ve been runover by a truck. =( Back to school germs are the best, aren’t they?
